How to Measure for Custom Chaps / Chinks

Measuring for your custom chaps/chinks can be confusing. If you have any concerns while measuring, we strongly recommend you to call us for guidance to ensure that you will be satisfied with the fit of your new chaps.

Read carefully before you measure

Take your measurements wearing your actual show pants, belt, and boots. These should be the same clothes you wear when you show.
Do not try to measure yourself, have someone measure you. Follow directions exactly.
Use a soft measuring tape. These are available at most fabric stores or drugstores.
Pull the tape so that it rest comfortably on your leg. Not too tight, not too loose.
DO NOT ADD OR SUBTRACT FROM YOUR MEASUREMENTS as exact measurements are necessary for construction. Please call Gwen with special sizing requirements such as extra length or growth room for children.
Since all chaps are custom made there is no refund after 5 days of placing the order. Please note return policy:

Measurement Form

Use this form to provide your custom measurement information. This information will be sent to us for review and you will be sent an email confirmation.

1. Hip-Waist*required
Take a snug measurement around the base of the belt loops, this will be about 4" larger than the waist of your pants.

2. Outseam*required
The length from the base of the belt loops to the floor, with boots on. If you prefer to wear your chaps above the base of the bell loops then this measurement should be taken at that point.

3. Inseam*required
The length from the crotch to the floor with boots on. Crotch to instep - the length from the crotch to the top of the foot or instep.

4. Crotch to Instep*required
The length from the crotch to the top of the foot or instep.

5. Crotch to Calf*required
The length from the crotch to the largest part of the calf.

6. Crotch to Knee *required
The length from the crotch to the center of the knee-cap.

7. Crotch To Calf *required
The length from the crotch to the largest part of the calf.

8. Thigh, Upper*required
The circumference of the thigh at the crotch. Leave the tape as loose as you want the chaps to fit.

9. Thigh, Mid-Upper*required
The circumference of the leg at this point which is halfway between the (7) and (11). Leave the tape as, loose as you want the chaps to fit.

10. Thigh, Mid-Lower *required
The circumference of the leg at this point which is half way between the (9) and (11). Leave the tape as loose as you want the chaps to fit.

11. Knee Center *required
The circumference of the knee at the center of the knee. We will use this as a reference only. We will blend the actual chap knee between (10) and (12). If you want us to make the knee to your exact measurement then we will, but you must inform us to do so.

12. Calf *required
The circumference of the calf. Leave the tape as loose as you want the chaps to fit. We recommend adding 2" to a snug measurement for western style shotgun chaps so the chap leg will slide up and down freely.

13. Lower Leg *required
The circumference of the leg at this point located half way between (top of foot) and (12). Leave the tape as loose as you want the chaps to fit. We recommend for western style shotgun chaps so the leg will slide up and down freely and belt a little at the bottom. For western shotgun chaps, customers usually leave this one up to our judgement, but if you want a specific measurement here then please inform us.

14. Top of Foot *required
The circumference where ankle/foot bends. leave the tape as loose as you want the chaps to fit. For western shotgun chaps, the customer usually leaves this one up to our judgement, but if you want a specific measurement here then please inform us.

15. Front Rise *required
Base of belt to crotch.

Refund/Return Policy - There are no refunds for custom orders if the sizes are supplied by the customer in error. All custom work added to chaps/chinks jackets/coats custom made: Such
Cancellations must be in writing with in 5 business days of placing the order. To request a cancellations after placing the order please call 1880 Western Wear, and receive a refund approval code.No refunds for items, exchanges only offered. No refunds if the customer changes designs/colors, larger sizes, etc. After the materials have been cut 5 business days of placing the order.. Alterations can be made to items at the Designers expense.
RE- shipment fees will be provided by the customer. Customers wishing to exchange for different sizes must be returned within 15 days of receiving items. All custom designed coats, chaps, chinks, dusters may take 10-12 weeks, for completion, please allow additional time if orders are changed, added to or altered by the customer after cutting of materials. Please inquire at time of order for approximate delivery date, and materials availability. Some custom orders may be completed prior to the 10-12 weeks, please inquire.
